Apidura Backcountry Saddle Pack - 10 L
The Apidura Backcountry Saddle Pack is an ultra-durable, lightweight and seam-welded waterproof saddle bag optimised for mountain bikes with limited rear wheel clearance and dropper posts. Available in 4.5 L (235 g), 6 L (290 g) and 10 L (375 g), it attaches with a three-point anti-sway system and compresses with a roll-down closure and air release valves.
Why a mountain bike saddle pack – and why this one
On a full-suspension trail bike, space under the saddle is limited: the rear wheel moves up, the dropper post moves down, and a long, heavy seat bag quickly hits the tyre or swings around on rough ground. The Backcountry Saddle Pack was designed for exactly these bikes:
- It works with dropper posts. The pack is dropper post compatible; the optional Dropper Post Adapter adds support and helps maintain clearance between pack and wheel.
- It stays clear of the rear wheel. The shape is optimised for bikes with limited rear wheel clearance.
- It does not sway. A 3-point anti-sway system – Hypalon-reinforced velcro strap(s) on the seatpost and two Hypalon-reinforced buckle straps on the saddle rails – and a lightweight integrated structure keep it stable over rough terrain.
- It survives the trail. Abrasion-resistant 840D textured nylon panels protect high-wear areas, and RF-welded seams keep the contents dry.
- It packs down to what you carry. The roll-down closure and air release valves let you compress light, compressible gear tightly.
Who is it for?
- Mountain bikers and singletrack bikepackers riding modern full-suspension bikes with dropper posts.
- Off-road racers and adventure riders who need a stable, waterproof pack for light, compressible gear.
- Trail riders who want to take weight off their back for longer days out.
Which size? The 4.5 L (14 cm wide) is the most compact option for bikes with the least clearance. The 6 L (16 cm wide) is the middle ground for overnight kit. The 10 L (18 cm wide) carries the most and is as dropper-friendly as the smaller versions; it attaches with two seatpost straps. Each pack needs a minimum amount of exposed seatpost and clearance above the rear tyre – check the dimension drawings below.

Frequently asked questions
Will the Backcountry Saddle Pack fit my bike?
It is designed to fit most bikes with two saddle rails. Each size needs a minimum amount of exposed seatpost and a minimum clearance between the saddle rails and the top of the rear tyre – see the dimension drawings above. With a dropper post, measure with the post at its lowest position and the rear suspension fully compressed.
Can I use it with a dropper post?
Yes. The pack is designed to be compatible with dropper posts; the optional Dropper Post Adapter provides additional support and helps maintain clearance between pack and wheel.
Can I still use a rear light?
Yes. The pack has a built-in light attachment point for clip-on rear lights. A seatpost-mounted light may also work if there is enough exposed seatpost below the pack.
How do the air release valves work?
The SoftVent air valves are built into the pack's fabric layers instead of a plastic purge valve, so trapped air escapes when you roll and compress the bag.
