Apidura Expedition Downtube Pack – 1.5L
The Apidura Expedition Downtube Pack is a 1.5 L, fully waterproof, seam-welded bag that straps to the downtube and turns unused frame space into storage for tools and spares. It weighs 111 g, needs no mounts or cage bolts, and fits tubes with a circumference of 12–18 cm.
Why a downtube pack – and why this one
On a loaded bikepacking bike, tools and spares often end up wherever there is room left – rattling in a frame bag or buried under clothes in a saddle pack. The underside of the downtube is free space that most setups never use. The Expedition Downtube Pack makes use of it:
- No bolts or cage needed. A wide Velcro Hypalon Stability Strap fastens the pack to tubes of varying diameters – mount and cage free.
- It does not shift. A moulded Stability Channel with silicone print locks the pack to the tube and eliminates side-to-side movement; foam bumpers and silicone further improve stability.
- It stays clear of the chainrings. Asymmetrical tapering at the base of the pack prevents contact with the chainrings.
- Contents stay dry and compact. The roll-down closure with quick-release buckle adjusts the capacity, and the strap compresses the contents evenly. RF-welded seams make it waterproof when rolled three times.

Does it need bottle cage bolts or other mounts?
No. It attaches with a wide Velcro Hypalon Stability Strap, without mounts or a bottle cage.
Which tubes does it fit?
It is designed for tubes with a circumference of 12–18 cm, such as the downtube. Mounting on tubes with a circumference of less than 9.5 cm, such as seat stays and forks, is not recommended.
Will it touch the chainrings?
The base of the pack is asymmetrically tapered to prevent contact with the chainrings.
Is it fully waterproof?
Yes, when closed correctly: the seams are RF-welded, and the roll-down closure must be rolled three times for complete waterproofing.
