Apidura Racing Saddle Pack - 5 L
The Apidura Racing Saddle Pack is a compact, lightweight and seam-welded waterproof saddle bag optimised for ultra-distance competition and fast-paced shorter rides. Available in 3 L (170 g, 12 cm wide), 5 L (200 g, 14 cm) and 7 L (210 g, 16 cm), it uses a three-point anti-sway attachment and a roll-top closure with air release valves for compression.
Why a racing saddle pack – and why this one
A saddle bag that swings from side to side, adds drag or soaks through in the rain costs energy and comfort over a long race. The Racing Saddle Pack is built to carry light gear without those compromises:
- It does not sway. A three-point attachment system – one Hypalon-reinforced Velcro strap on the seatpost and two Hypalon-reinforced buckle straps on the saddle rails – keeps it secure and reduces drag.
- It packs down to your load. The roll-top closure accommodates different load sizes, and SoftVent air release valves let trapped air escape when you compress the bag.
- It stays light. Hexalon fabric and a minimal design keep the weight between 170 g and 210 g depending on size.
- Your kit stays dry. RF-welded seams and bespoke materials create watertight seams.
- You stay visible. Reflective graphics and an integrated light attachment point improve visibility.
Who is it for?
- Ultra-distance racers – the Racing Saddle Pack has been ridden to 1st place at the Transcontinental Race (2024) and the Atlas Mountain Race (2024).
- Audax and single-day racers who want a light, compact bag for spare layers and essentials.
- Fast bikepackers on multi-day races who need waterproof storage behind the saddle.
Which size? The 3 L is for fast and light rides, single-day racing or audax. For multi-day races, choose the 5 L or 7 L. Each size needs a minimum amount of exposed seatpost and clearance above the rear tyre – check the compatibility diagrams below.

Compatibility
Measure the vertical distance from the bottom of your saddle rails to the top of your rear tyre, and from the seatpost collar to the saddle clamp. The minimum required distances for each size are shown below. If possible, rotate the seatpost collar so the bolt is on the opposite side of the seatpost to the pack – this reduces wear on the pack.
Care & maintenance
- Spot clean only – stains can be spot treated with concentrated dishwashing liquid. Abrasion is not recommended.
Frequently asked questions
Will the Racing Saddle Pack fit my bike?
It is designed to fit most standard bikes with two saddle rails. Each size needs a minimum amount of exposed seatpost and clearance above the rear tyre – see the compatibility diagrams above.
Can I use a rear light with it?
Yes. The pack has a built-in attachment point for a clip-on rear light. A seatpost-mounted light may also work if there is enough exposed seatpost below the pack.
How do the air release valves work?
The SoftVent air valves are built directly into the pack's fabric layers instead of a plastic purge valve, so trapped air can escape when you roll or compress the bag.
Which size should I choose for multi-day races?
The 3 L suits fast and light rides, single-day racing and audax; for multi-day races, Apidura suggests the 5 L or 7 L.
