Rohloff 500/14 Speedhub

14 speeds for comfortable riding

The Booda Bike Alpine Rohloff is a low-maintenance, belt-driven gravel bike with a steel frame and a carbon fork. Its sealed Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 internal gear hub (14 gears, no derailleur to adjust) and Gates CDX carbon belt drive (no lubrication needed, does not rust) keep the drivetrain clean and durable, and Shimano GRX hydraulic disc brakes and Schwalbe G-One Allround 622x40 tubeless-ready tyres complete the build. It is available in sizes S, M and L for riders from 155 to 200 cm tall.

The Booda Bike Alpine is our adventure-focused gravel bike, designed for riders who want to explore far beyond smooth asphalt. Its steel frame and carbon fork work together to deliver a comfortable, controlled ride on long tours and rougher terrain.

The Schwalbe G-One Allround tubeless tyres add grip and comfort, while the Gates CDX belt drive and Rohloff 14-speed internal gear hub keep the drivetrain clean, durable and very low-maintenance.

The drop-bar cockpit provides an efficient but comfortable riding position for long days in the saddle. Shimano GRX brake levers combined with the Rohloff shifting system give you precise control, while the hydraulic disc brakes provide strong, predictable braking in a wide range of conditions.

A gravel bike built to go far and climb high with as little maintenance as possible.

Key features of the Alpine Rohloff

  • Steel frameSteel frame The frame is the most important element of the bike, so it gets a great deal of attention in the design. Thanks to the material properties of steel, it pleasantly dampens vibrations, yet gives enough rigidity to make cornering a real experience.
  • 14 speeds14 speeds The Rohloff hub offers 14 evenly spaced gears, sealed in a maintenance-friendly, weatherproof system. It is designed for durability and reliability, and suits both urban commuting and long-distance touring.
  • Approx. 12 kg~ 12 kg The bike weighs approximately 12 kilograms without accessories, which is low for a steel-framed, hub-geared bike of this type. This is thanks to the high-quality steel frame and the carbon fork. Low weight is key to a comfortable and enjoyable ride.
  • Hydraulic disc brakesHydraulic disc brakes The hydraulic disc brake system is one of the lowest-maintenance solutions available and delivers efficient braking.
  • Gates Carbon Drive beltGates Carbon Drive system The Gates Carbon Drive belt system is clean, quiet and virtually maintenance-free. It does not require lubrication, does not rust and lasts significantly longer than a traditional chain. A premium choice for smooth and reliable riding.
  • Internal cable routingInternal cable routing Every detail of the bike was carefully designed to keep it clean and good-looking, which is why internal cable routing is an essential feature.

Bike lit by a Supernova dynamo headlight and a red rear light

Choose it with a Supernova dynamo lighting system!

Choose the dynamo-powered Supernova E3 Pure 3 lighting system with a Shutter Precision hub dynamo if you want worry-free, continuous lighting on your bike. The rear light can be mounted on the rear rack or the seatpost clamp, whichever suits you best. The base model is supplied without a lighting system (the photos show optional lights); add a lighting set when you customise your bike.

Booda Bike Alpine gravel bike

Efficient gravel riding position

On the bike we want a position in which we can sit efficiently and comfortably, and on the hub-geared models this has been achieved. Pushing the pedals backwards with the feet, in the “horse kick” pedalling position, we can drive the bike most effectively while still keeping our backs in a comfortable position for a long time.

Carbon rim, an optional upgrade

Carbon rim upgrade

Our aluminium rim is a great choice in terms of value for money, but if you are aiming for a lighter, stiffer and faster ride, upgrading to carbon is worth considering. Carbon rims transfer power more efficiently, absorb vibrations better and offer a noticeably smoother ride. They also provide aerodynamic advantages, which make a real difference at higher speeds or on longer rides. And the premium look? That is just the cherry on top.

Frequently asked questions

How can I pay?

You can pay via bank transfer or credit card.

Is the Booda Bike Alpine Rohloff a low-maintenance bike?

Low maintenance is a core design goal of the Alpine Rohloff. The Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 is a sealed internal gear hub, so there is no derailleur to adjust. The Gates CDX carbon belt does not need lubrication and does not rust. The hydraulic disc brakes are one of the lowest-maintenance braking solutions available, and the Schwalbe G-One Allround tyres are tubeless-ready and supplied with Effetto Mariposa Végétalex sealant, which seals smaller holes. All Booda Bike models use standard components, so any general bike shop should be able to service them.

Which gear hub does the Alpine Rohloff use, and how many gears does it have?

It uses the Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 (500/14 CC DB, 135 mm), a 14-speed internal gear hub sealed against the weather. The gear ratios range from 0.279 in 1st gear to 1.467 in 14th gear (the full list is under the Rohloff Speedhub heading). You shift from the handlebar with the Shimano GRX levers: the right-hand lever shifts up and the left-hand lever shifts down.

Does the Alpine Rohloff have a belt drive instead of a chain?

Yes. It has a Gates CDX carbon belt drive (115T belt, 55T front sprocket, 19T rear sprocket). The belt is clean and quiet, does not need lubrication and does not rust.

What makes the Alpine Rohloff a durable touring and gravel bike?

The drivetrain has few wearing parts: a sealed hub, a belt that needs no lubrication and no derailleur or cassette. The frame is steel, which dampens vibrations, and the fork is carbon. It rolls on Schwalbe G-One Allround 622x40 tubeless-ready gravel tyres and uses 160 mm hydraulic disc brakes. The bike weighs approximately 12 kg without accessories, and a Tubus Fly Classic rear rack is available as an option for touring.

Is the Alpine Rohloff suitable for commuting and long tours?

Yes. It was designed for long tours and rougher terrain, and the Rohloff hub suits both urban commuting and long-distance touring. For everyday and touring use you can add dynamo or battery lighting and a Tubus Fly Classic rear rack when you customise the bike.

Does the Alpine Rohloff come with lights?

No. The base model comes without a lighting system, contrary to some of the photos. You can add a Supernova E3 Pure 3 dynamo set (with a Shutter Precision hub dynamo) or a battery-powered Supernova Airstream 2 set as a customisation.

What size of Booda Bike Alpine do I need?

The Alpine comes in S (rider height 155–170 cm), M (170–185 cm) and L (185–200 cm). The seat tube is 530, 560 and 590 mm, and the reach is 381, 381 and 398 mm respectively. The full geometry table is above.

What is the difference between the Alpine Rohloff and the Alpine e-14?

Both are steel-frame, belt-driven gravel bikes with a Rohloff Speedhub 500/14. The Alpine Rohloff is shifted mechanically by cable with Shimano GRX levers. The Alpine e-14 has Rohloff E-14 2.0 electric shifting with TRP Hywire brake-shift levers, powered by your own power bank in the Apidura top tube pack supplied with the bike.

Is there any financing option available?

Not yet, but we’re working on it! :)

What if I don’t like my bike?

If the bike isn’t what you expected, you can return it within 14 days. Please make sure to pack it carefully so it arrives back to us in good condition. You can find the return conditions in our Terms and Conditions.

How can I service my bike?

All our bikes are made using standard components, so they’re easy to maintain. This is a core principle across all our models. Thanks to this, any general bike shop should be able to service your Booda Bike.

What tools do I need to assemble my Booda Bike?

This depends on the model and configuration, but most maintenance and assembly can be done with these tools: 4 mm Allen key, 5 mm Allen key, 6 mm Allen key, and a T25 Torx key.

Do the prices include VAT?

Once you select your country, all prices will be shown with the applicable local VAT included.

Can I try the bike in person before buying?

Currently, we operate as an online-only store, but we’re working on making test rides possible in the near future.

What happens after I place my order?

Once we receive your order, we begin processing it. If all parts are in stock, our team will prepare the components in the order in which the orders were received. If something is out of stock, we’ll check the expected arrival or order it immediately. After that, your bike enters the assembly phase, which usually takes 1–2 business days. Once the bike is built, it undergoes a thorough quality check to ensure everything is assembled correctly. Then it gets packed and shipped straight to your door.

How can I order spare parts?

If you bought your bike through our website, just go to the “My Bicycle” tab in your profile — there you’ll find all components specific to your bike, so you’ll know exactly what you need and can easily reorder.

What if I want a customization that’s not available on the website?

The customization options on our website are based on what we've learned actually make sense over the years. There are very few modifications we are both able and willing to make that aren’t listed online — but feel free to email us at info@boodabike.com and we’ll be happy to discuss it.
