The FSA MegaExo Wave Spring Washer for 24 mm spindles takes up side play on FSA MegaExo cranks: it sits between the non-drive-side bottom bracket cup and the left crank arm and gently preloads the bearings, so the crank turns smoothly without knocking.

FSA MegaExo wave spring washer – 24 mm.

Why replace the wave washer?

  • Takes up side play. Its wavy shape works as a small spring between the bottom bracket cup and the left arm.
  • Quiet crank. A missing or flattened washer lets the crank move sideways and click under load.
  • Protects the bearings. A crank with play wears the bottom bracket bearings faster.
  • Original FSA part. The same washer we use when we build and service our Booda Bikes.

Where does it go?

The wave spring washer is part 2 – on the non-drive side of the spindle, together with the plastic spacer (3).

1 – bottom bracket (two bearing cups threaded into the frame), 2 – wave spring washer, 3 – plastic spacer, 4 – left crank arm, 5 – crank bolt, 6 – drive-side crank arm with the 24 mm spindle, 7 – chainring or belt sprocket (direct mount).

When do you need it?

  • Your crank has side play. Or you hear a knock when you pedal hard.
  • You fit a new bottom bracket. The FSA MegaExo BB-7100 does not include this washer.
  • The old washer is worn. Flat, cracked or rusty.

Frequently asked questions

Is the plastic spacer included with the FSA wave washer?

No, this is the wave washer only. If you need both, choose the FSA MegaExo wave washer + spacer set.

Does it fit 30 mm spindles?

No. It is made for 24 mm MegaExo spindles.

How do I fit it?

Clean the spindle and the bottom bracket cup face, place the wave washer on the non-drive side of the spindle, fit the left crank arm and tighten the crank bolt to FSA's torque value.

We build and service belt-drive and gear-hub bikes every day in our Budapest workshop. Not sure which part you need? Send us a photo of your crank and bottom bracket and we will tell you what fits.

About FSA

FSA – Full Speed Ahead – has made bicycle components since 1993 and moved into cranksets and chainrings in 1995. FSA introduced the compact road crankset in 2004, and its MegaExo system with external bearings and a 24 mm spindle is one of the most widely used crank and bottom bracket platforms on mountain, gravel, trekking and urban bikes. FSA parts are fitted as original equipment by many bike brands, including our own Booda Bike belt-drive bikes.
