Hexlox Hexnut 3/8" (Alfine/Nexus) – Black
The Hexlox Hexnut 3/8" – Black is a theft-proof axle nut for Shimano Alfine and Nexus hub-gear wheels (3/8", 9.5 mm axle): its outer ring spins freely so pliers and spanners find no grip, and a 6 mm Hexlox insert in the centre means only your coded key opens it.

Why the Hexnut?
Made for hub gears. Replaces the standard 3/8" axle nut on Shimano Alfine and Nexus hubs.
Free-spinning security ring. The outer ring turns on its own, so pliers and spanners just spin it.
Locked by a 6 mm insert. Only the Hexlox Key with your code removes the insert.
No spanner to carry. With the insert out, the Hexnut loosens with a 6 mm Allen key.
Weatherproof. Stainless steel for riding all year.

Why protect a hub-gear wheel
A hub-gear rear wheel – with the hub, sprocket and shifting – is one of the most expensive parts of a city or touring bike, and it is held on by two ordinary nuts. A thief with a 15 mm spanner can take it in under a minute. The Hexnut stops exactly that.
What you need for one wheel: 2 Hexnuts, 2 Hexlox 6 mm inserts and 1 Hexlox Key.
Who is it for?
- Alfine and Nexus riders. Who park their bike in the city every day.
- Belt-drive commuters. Whose rear wheel, hub and sprocket are worth far more than a lock.
- Touring riders. Who leave a loaded bike outside shops and cafés.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Hexlox Hexnut fit my Rohloff hub?
This Hexnut is specified for Shimano Alfine and Nexus (3/8" axle). Rohloff is not listed by Hexlox – ask us before ordering.
Is a single nut enough?
No – a wheel has two axle nuts. Protect both sides, otherwise the wheel can still be removed.
How do I fix a flat on the road?
Carry your Hexlox Key and a 6 mm Allen key: remove the inserts, loosen the Hexnuts, and the wheel comes out as usual.
Is the insert included?
No. The Hexnut works together with a 6 mm Hexlox insert and the Hexlox Key, both sold separately.
No lock in the world is 100% secure. Hexlox stops the quick, opportunistic theft of parts – for the frame itself, always use a good frame lock and a fixed anchor point, as Hexlox recommends too. Hexlox was founded in Berlin in 2016 with one idea: bike bolts are already highly specialised, so instead of replacing them, build a lock that fits into the bolts you already have. Designed and made in Germany, Hexlox is sold through more than 500 bike shops in over 67 countries – worry less, ride more.About Hexlox
