The Hiplok Z LOK (ZLK1OR, Orange) is a lockable, reusable security tie with a reinforced steel core – the world's first secured zip tie. The bright orange finish is easy to spot in a bag or a glovebox, so your quick-stop lock is always ready.

Why the Z LOK?

  • Harder to cut than a zip tie. A reinforced steel insert runs inside the toughened nylon strap, so simple tools such as scissors or a knife do not get through.
  • Fastens while it locks. The Lock & Hold ratchet pulls down and locks in one movement, holding items tight.
  • Opens with a key, used again. Not a disposable tie: unlock it with the universal key and reuse it.
  • 40 cm long. Goes round a wheel and fork, a helmet strap or a rack upright.
  • Featherweight. Fits in a jersey pocket; the orange colour makes it quick to find.
  • Design and Innovation Award 2018. An award-winning idea from Hiplok.

For the two-minute stop

A helmet left on the bars, a wheel that spins free, a bike on the car rack while you grab a coffee: most thefts are opportunistic. A heavy lock for such a short stop feels absurd, so things are often left unsecured. Z LOK gives quick, lightweight protection exactly for these moments.

Car racks and travel

On the way to the trail, lock the wheels to the roof or tow-bar rack, or the bikes to each other, while you take a break.

A partner for your main lock

Let your D lock or chain hold the frame and use Z LOK for the front wheel, the helmet or a bag on the bike.

Who is it for?

  • Riders on café rides. Road and gravel riders who do not want to carry a full lock.
  • Families on the move. Bikes on the car rack, scooters, buggies and luggage.
  • Commuters. A second lock for the helmet, front wheel or bag.
  • Winter sports fans. Skis and snowboards outside the hut or café.

Frequently asked questions

How secure is the Hiplok Z LOK?

Its reinforced steel core means it cannot be snipped with scissors or a knife like a normal zip tie. It is made to stop the opportunist thief; for longer stops use a Sold Secure rated D lock or chain as your main lock.

Can I use it more than once?

Yes. Z LOK opens with its key and can be reused as often as you like.

Is it long enough for a wheel?

Yes. The 40 cm locking length goes round a road-bike wheel and fork, a helmet strap or a rack arm. Thread it through the spokes and the fork or frame, then pull it tight before locking.

Can I leave my bike overnight with only a Z LOK?

No. Z LOK is not a replacement for a main lock when leaving your bike for long periods or overnight.

About Hiplok

Hiplok is a British bike-security brand, founded after a bike theft in 2009 by product designers and everyday cyclists Ben Smith and John Abrahams. From its UK design headquarters it develops locks that solve real problems riders have, starting with the Hiplok ORIGINAL, the world's first wearable bike lock.

Every Hiplok lock goes through a full testing and development process using real-world attack methods, and the brand's innovations have earned awards such as BikeBiz Brand of the Year 2024. Today Hiplok makes wearable chains, D locks, folding locks, security ties, anchors and storage for bicycles, e-bikes and motorcycles, sold around the world.
