Pinion Oil Change Kit – 60 ml Gearbox Oil Service Set for P-Line and C-Line
The Pinion Oil Change Kit is the original service set for changing the oil in a Pinion P-Line or C-Line gearbox: 60 ml of Pinion gearbox oil plus the oil syringe, hose and threaded connector, in one bag. Pinion prescribes an oil change every 10,000 km (6,200 miles), and this kit holds everything for it.

Why this Pinion oil change kit?
Everything in one bag. Gearbox oil, oil syringe, hose and threaded connector: no separate parts to find for a clean oil change.
The right amount. Pinion specifies an oil fill volume of 60 ml (2.0 oz) for its P-Line and C-Line gearboxes, so one kit is one fill.
Original Pinion oil. Pinion tells owners to use original Pinion gearbox oil exclusively, and to use only P-/C-Line oil in these gearboxes, never MGU oil.
Every 10,000 km. The oil interval Pinion names in its user manuals and service videos; a long touring or bikepacking season can reach it quickly.
Warranty-relevant. An oil change every 10,000 km is a prerequisite for Pinion warranty claims, and the proof of purchase for original Pinion gear oil is accepted as proof under Pinion's warranty terms.
A job you can do yourself. Pinion publishes its oil change procedure for P-Line and C-Line, and you can do it in your own workshop with a torque wrench.

Delivered in Pinion's paper service bag
The kit comes in a kraft paper bag with a window, printed with the Pinion Drive Technology logo. Keep your invoice for the original Pinion oil together with the Oil change data table in your gearbox manual: the date of each oil change goes into that table, together with the dealer stamp if a dealer does the job.

How to change the oil in a Pinion gearbox
Follow your gearbox user manual. In short, as Pinion describes it for the two lines (1.5 N·m = 13 lbf·in, 3 N·m = 27 lbf·in):
P-Line
- Unscrew the housing screws and take off the cable box cover.
- Unscrew the screw plug in the filler opening and have a drainage tray ready.
- Lay the bike on its side and drain the used oil completely from the filler opening; then stand the bike upright or put it on a repair stand.
- Add 60 ml of fresh Pinion oil.
- Screw the plug back in with 3 N·m and refit the cover with the housing screws at 1.5 N·m.
- Write the date into the Oil change data table in your manual.
C-Line
- Carefully pry off the cable box cover at the lugs with a flat-blade screwdriver.
- Put the bike on a stand so that the drain opening is the lowest point, and place a drainage tray underneath.
- Unscrew the screw plug in the filler opening and the screw plug in the drain opening; drain the used oil completely.
- Screw the drain plug back in with 3 N·m.
- Add 60 ml of fresh Pinion oil, then screw in the filler plug with 3 N·m.
- Refit the cover and write the date into the Oil change data table in your manual.

Frequently asked questions
How often should I change the oil in a Pinion gearbox?
Pinion prescribes an oil change every 10,000 km (6,200 miles). The oil change is also documented in the Oil change data table in the user manual.
How much oil does a Pinion P-Line or C-Line gearbox take?
The fill volume is 60 ml (2.0 oz). At the first oil change the volume you drain will be less than 60 ml, but Pinion tells owners to fill the specified 60 ml anyway.
What is in the Pinion oil change kit?
One kit contains 60 ml of Pinion gearbox oil, an oil syringe, a hose and a threaded connector, enough for one oil change.
Which Pinion gearboxes does it fit?
The Pinion P-Line (P1.18, P1.12, P1.9XR, P1.9 CR) and C-Line (C1.12, C1.9XR, C1.6) gearboxes. It is not suitable for the Pinion MGU e-drive gearbox: the P-Line and C-Line manuals say to use only P-/C-Line oil, and never MGU oil, in these gearboxes, and the MGU has its own oil.
Can I use another oil instead of original Pinion oil?
No. Pinion tells owners to use original Pinion gearbox oil exclusively, and in P-/C-Line gearboxes only the P-/C-Line oil.
Does the oil change matter for the Pinion warranty?
Yes. Pinion gives a 5-year warranty on P-Line gearbox technology after registration, and an oil change every 10,000 km is a prerequisite for claiming it. Under the warranty terms the proof can be the dealer's confirmation on the warranty card or the proof of purchase for original Pinion gear oil.

About Pinion
Pinion is a German maker of bicycle gearboxes. The idea for a centrally mounted bicycle gearbox came from engineers Christoph Lermen and Michael Schmitz at Porsche's development center in Weissach; Pinion GmbH was founded in 2008, and serial production started at its Denkendorf headquarters in 2012.
Today Pinion offers two lines of gearboxes: the P-Line, whose first model was the P1.18, and the C-Line introduced in 2016, used by many bicycle manufacturers for touring, trekking, gravel and mountain bikes.
