A raised-position stem for 31.8 mm handlebars: 80 mm long with a 17° rise, so the handlebar sits clearly higher than it would on a 5° or 7° stem of the same length.

Possible Stem 80/17: 80 mm length, 17° rise, 31.8 mm bar clamp.

Why a 17° stem?

  • A 17° rise. The stem tilts 17 degrees upward, which lifts the grips well above the steerer clamp and gives a more upright position.
  • 80 mm length. A mid length, so the extra height does not come with a long reach. The 80mm length is marked on the stem body.
  • Standard 31.8 mm clamp. Fits handlebars with a 31.8 mm diameter. For 35 mm bars, Possible lists the 80/5 stem.
  • Four-bolt faceplate. A black faceplate with four bolts holds the bar in a two-part clamp.

Seen from the clamp side

From this side you look straight into the handlebar clamp, with the body rising away behind it. The tilt of the body is what the 17 in the name describes.

The angle from the side

Side on, the angle between the clamp and the steerer end is easy to see. If you want a flatter stem of the same length, look at the 5° versions in the Possible range.

Who is it for?

  • Riders who want a higher handlebar. If you want to sit more upright, or the bar feels too low, a 17° rise lifts it without extending the reach.
  • Builders raising a cockpit. A simple way to gain handlebar height on a frame where the steerer is already cut.
  • Owners of 31.8 mm handlebars. The clamp is the common 31.8 mm size.

Frequently asked questions

What does a 17° rise do?

The stem body points 17 degrees up from horizontal instead of 5° or 7°, so the handlebar ends up higher relative to the steerer clamp. That gives a more upright riding position without making the stem longer.

Is it the same as the 80/5?

Only in length. The 80/17 has a 17° rise and a 31.8 mm bar clamp; the 80/5 has a 5° rise and a 35 mm bar clamp, for oversized handlebars.

Does the Booda Bike front light adapter fit this stem?

No. The Booda Bike stem front light mount adapter is made for stems with the Booda Bike logo and is not compatible with Possible stems.
