Rohloff Cable Guide 13°
The Rohloff Cable Guide 13° (Art. 8259) mounts on the left cantilever or V-brake boss and anchors the shifter cables of a SPEEDHUB 500/14 with internal gear mech for top-tube cable routing.

Why the 13° cable guide?
Uses the brake boss. Replaces the original brake boss bolt; all other brake parts stay in place.
Spacer for odd frames. A spacer is used when the bolt is too long for the boss, or when the guide would touch parts of the brake (for example parallel-push V-brake linkages).
Simple fitting. M6x25 bolt, 4 mm Allen key, 6 Nm – hold the guide with a 13 mm wrench while tightening.
Smooth shifting. Cable 1 sits at the front and cable 14 at the back of the guide, matching the twist shifter, for a clean cable line.

Top-tube routing for rim-brake bikes
With the internal gear mech, the shifter cables run from the twist shifter to the cable guide, and the two hub cables connect via bayonet connectors – so the wheel can be removed quickly.
Rohloff specifies at least 240 mm between the axle and the cable guide.
Who is it for?
- Rim-brake touring bikes with an older SPEEDHUB. The classic setup on cantilever and V-brake frames.
- Riders replacing a worn or bent guide. A genuine direct replacement.
- Workshops servicing internal gear mech hubs. A part worth keeping in the drawer.

Frequently asked questions
Can I keep my brake on the boss?
Yes. Only the boss bolt is replaced by the longer bolt; the brake itself stays in place.
When is the spacer needed?
When the bolt is too long for the brake boss, or when the guide interferes with the brake mechanism.
Does it work with a disc brake SPEEDHUB?
No. Disc brake versions use the external gear mech with a cable box.
