Rohloff Caliber 2 chain wear indicator
Rohloff Caliber 2 chain wear gauge (3000).

Why the Caliber 2?

  • Instant reading. Hook it into the chain: the deeper the measuring nose sinks between the rollers, the more worn the chain.
  • Two limits. Side A for aluminium and titanium sprockets (about 0.075 mm per link), side S for steel sprockets (about 0.1 mm per link).
  • Hardened stainless steel. A tool that stays accurate for years.
  • Saves money. A chain replaced in time keeps sprockets and chainrings running much longer.

Who is it for?

  • Every rider with a chain. A quick check at every service or before a big tour.
  • Speedhub and singlespeed riders. Protect the sprocket and chainring by changing the chain on time.
  • Workshops. A clear, objective reading to show customers.

Frequently asked questions

How do I read it?

On a new chain the measuring finger barely enters between the rollers. When the gauge lies flat on the rollers, that side's limit is reached and the chain should be replaced.

Which side should I use?

Side A if your sprockets or chainrings are aluminium or titanium, side S if they are steel.

Does it check the sprockets too?

No. For Shimano HG sprockets use the Rohloff HG-Check (3100).
