Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit 1.0
The Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit 1.0 (8803-1.0) is the electronic shift actuator of the first-generation Rohloff E-14 that sits on the SPEEDHUB 500/14 – a genuine replacement for e-bikes with Bosch BES2 or Panasonic FIT1, built up to the end of 2023.

Why the E-14 Shifter Unit 1.0?
Electronic shifting at the hub. The shifter unit takes the place of the mechanical gear mech and turns the SPEEDHUB shift shaft electronically.
Load-free gear changes. Connected to the e-bike CAN bus, it reads motor support, crank position and rider power, reduces motor support for a moment and completes the shift in about 0.2 seconds.
Powered by the e-bike. No separate battery – the unit is supplied by the e-bike drive system.
Multishift and auto-downshift. Hold the button to shift in steps of three gears; when you stop, the system drops to a pre-set starting gear.
Who is it for?
- Owners of a 1.0-generation E-14 e-bike. When the original shifter unit is damaged or faulty, this is the like-for-like replacement.
- Workshops servicing older E-14 bikes. Replace the unit instead of converting the whole bike to a newer system.

Frequently asked questions
Will it work on my Bosch Smart System e-bike?
No. Since model year 2024 Rohloff supplies the E-14 2.0 for the Bosch Smart System (BES3). The 1.0 unit is for Bosch BES2 and Panasonic FIT1 systems.
How do I know which E-14 generation I have?
On Bosch Smart System bikes the E-14 2.0 serial number (starting with 880304) can be shown in the display. The serial number of an E-14 1.0 unit cannot be shown in the display. If in doubt, send us a photo of the unit and its label.
My E-14 does not shift – is the shifter unit the problem?
Not always: cables, connectors, the handlebar switch and the e-bike software can also cause faults. Our Rohloff-trained workshop can help narrow it down before you buy parts.
