The Rohloff Torque Arm (8230) is the long aluminium torque arm for SPEEDHUB 500/14 hubs with the standard axle plate – it carries the hub torque to the chainstay on frames without a special dropout or brake mount.

Why the long torque arm?

  • Fits almost any frame. The standard axle plate with long torque arm needs no special dropout – the classic way to fit a SPEEDHUB.
  • Many mounting positions. The row of holes lets you place the clamp where it suits your chainstay.
  • Bolts behind the axle plate. Rohloff specifies 7 Nm for the axle plate bolts (5 mm Allen key).
  • CC and TS versions. CC hubs fix the narrow end with a quick release; TS hubs with the torque arm clamp.

Wheel removal

Before removing the wheel, release the narrow end of the torque arm from the frame. With the quick release version on CC hubs this takes seconds.

  • Riders fitting a SPEEDHUB to a standard frame. The torque arm needs no special dropouts.
  • Riders replacing a bent or lost arm. Genuine Rohloff replacement.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need it with an OEM or OEM2 axle plate?

No. OEM and OEM2 axle plates are anchored by the dropout or brake mount. The long torque arm is for the standard axle plate.

Which parts fix the arm to the frame?

On TS hubs the torque arm clamp 8241; on CC hubs the quick release block 8240 and head 8229. The screws 8231 fix it to the axle plate.
