The Rohloff Twist shifter light (8206) is the right-hand twist shifter for the SPEEDHUB 500/14 – one twist of the wrist moves through all 14 gears, also when standing still.

Why the Rohloff twist shifter?

  • 14 gears, 13 clicks. Clear indexing and a gear display show exactly which gear you are in.
  • Shift at standstill. With the SPEEDHUB you can change several gears at once, even when stopped at a light.
  • Comfortable grip. The rubber grip is replaceable (8190), so the shifter stays pleasant to use for many years.
  • Two-cable system. One cable for each direction gives positive shifting both ways.

Fitting it right

The shifter fits 22–22.3 mm (7/8") handlebars. Tighten the two M3 × 12 TX20 clamp screws evenly and by no more than 2 Nm.

Set the cable tension so there is about 2 mm of play at the shifter.

  • Riders replacing a damaged shifter. After a crash or years of use.
  • Riders building a new SPEEDHUB bike. The genuine shifter for 14 evenly spaced gears.
  • Riders who prefer simple controls. No trigger levers, just one twist.

Frequently asked questions

Does it fit drop bars?

The shifter is made for 22–22.3 mm handlebar sections, which is the grip diameter of flat and trekking bars. Drop bars are usually larger; ask us about solutions.

Can I fit it on the left side?

For left-hand shifting Rohloff makes a dedicated left-hand version, 8207.

Do I need new cables too?

Not necessarily. If the cables are old or shifting is stiff, the cable set 8268 is a good idea at the same time.
