The Tektro HD-R290 Hydraulic Disc Brake Set – Front and Rear is a matched pair of hydraulic flat-mount disc brakes, each with lever and caliper, for flat-handlebar bikes. One purchase equips a whole bike with consistent hydraulic braking.
Why the HD-R290 set?
Matched pair. Front and rear from the same model – the same lever shape, feel and look in both hands. 
Hydraulic control. 2-piston calipers give fine modulation on gravel and wet roads and strong braking when needed. 
Light pull. Hydraulic brakes stop well with less hand force than cable disc brakes – comfort on long days. 
Flat-mount calipers. Compact and neat on modern disc frames and forks. 
Shared lever spare part. Tektro lists the HD-R290 lever assembly as a spare part shared with HD-R280 and HD-T285.
Front and rear in one box
The set contains one complete front and one complete rear HD-R290 brake. Use it to build up a new flat-bar touring, trekking, city or gravel bike with flat-mount disc mounts, to convert a bike from cable disc brakes to hydraulic braking front and rear in one step, or to replace both brakes of an existing HD-R290 bike at once.
Tektro has discontinued the HD-R290. We offer our remaining new stock as a complete set – a practical, reliable choice for a build or a full replacement.

Each brake is its own closed hydraulic circuit.
Who is it for?
- Flat-bar bike builders. Want the same brake front and rear? A matched set gives the same lever shape and feel in both hands.
- Riders tired of mechanical disc brakes. If yours need too much hand force, hydraulic brakes stop well with a lighter pull.
- Owners of worn HD-R290 brakes. Replace both together with the same model.
- Belt-drive and gear-hub riders. On steel touring and gravel frames, for those who prefer dependable, low-maintenance parts.
