Booda Bike Alpine with Rohloff E-14 Solo electronic shifting

Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 – E-14 Solo

Belt-driven, drop-bar gravel bike with Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 hub gear and Rohloff E-14 Solo electronic shifting (available to pre-order, shipping from spring 2027)

A gravel bike for world-spanning tours. The Booda Bike Alpine got its name from the fact that it was designed for exploring the mountains. It is not fazed by gravel roads and is a good partner for long tours. The steel frame, working together with the carbon fork, absorbs vibrations well, and the Schwalbe G-One Allround tubeless tyres add extra comfort. Low maintenance comes from the Gates CDX belt drive, the 14-speed Rohloff hub gear and the tubeless tyre system. Thanks to the gravel handlebar, the riding position is very comfortable yet efficient. The Rohloff E-14 Solo electronic shifting and the TRP Hywire hydraulic brake system with shift levers complete the picture: you shift at the push of a button and brake with confident power. The bike comes without a lighting set; you can add the Supernova Airstream 2 battery-powered front and rear light set as an option when you customise it.

In short: the Booda Bike Alpine with Rohloff E-14 Solo is a low-maintenance, belt-driven drop-bar gravel and touring bike with a steel frame, a carbon fork, a sealed 14-speed Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 hub gear (526% gear range), a Gates CDX belt instead of a chain, TRP Hywire hydraulic brake-shifters and Rohloff E-14 Solo electronic shifting, which has its own battery and needs no app, cloud or account. It is available to pre-order, with delivery from spring 2027.

Booda Bike Alpine with Rohloff E-14 Solo key facts

  • Type: belt-driven drop-bar gravel and touring bike; steel frame with a carbon fork.
  • Gears: Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 internal gear hub, 14 gears, 526% gear range (Rohloff figure).
  • Shifting: Rohloff E-14 Solo electronic shifting with TRP Hywire brake-lever shifters; own battery charged via USB-C; no app, cloud or account needed.
  • Drive: Gates CDX carbon belt drive.
  • Brakes: TRP Hywire hydraulic disc brakes with integrated shift levers.
  • Tyres: Schwalbe G-One Allround 622×40 tubeless gravel tyres with Effetto Mariposa Végétalex sealant.
  • Lights: not included in the base model; optional Supernova Airstream 2 battery-powered front and rear light set.
  • Weight: approximately 12 kg without accessories.
  • Sizes: S (155–170 cm), M (170–185 cm) and L (185–200 cm).
  • Availability: pre-order; delivery from spring 2027, with the first bikes expected to ship around March 2027.
  • Steel frame The frame is the most important element of the bike, so it gets huge attention in the design. Due to the material properties of steel, it pleasantly dampens vibrations, but gives enough rigidity to make turning a real experience.
  • Electronic shifting The Rohloff hub with E-14 electronic shifting offers 14 evenly spaced gears sealed in a maintenance-friendly, weatherproof system. It is durable and reliable, and suited to both urban commuting and long-distance touring.
  • ~ 12 kg The bike weighs approximately 12 kilograms without accessories, which is very light for a steel-framed, hub-geared bike of this type. This is thanks to the high-quality steel frame and the carbon fork. The low weight contributes to a comfortable and enjoyable ride.
  • Hydraulic disc brakes The hydraulic disc brake system is one of the lowest-maintenance solutions available. It offers high braking efficiency.
  • Gates Carbon Drive system The Gates Carbon Drive belt system is clean, quiet, and virtually maintenance-free. It doesn’t require lubrication, won’t rust, and lasts significantly longer than a traditional chain. A premium choice for smooth and reliable riding.
  • Internal cable routing Every detail of the bike was carefully designed to keep it clean and good-looking, which is why internal cable routing is a standard feature.

Pre-order: Rohloff E-14 Solo electronic shifting

This Booda Bike Alpine is built with the new Rohloff E-14 Solo electronic shifting system, which Rohloff will release in early 2027. Order it now and we will deliver from spring 2027; we expect to begin shipping the first bikes around March 2027. To our knowledge, we are the first in the world to offer this option on a complete bicycle. In our earlier early-bird edition, the Alpine – Rohloff e-14 electric shifter, the battery had to be carried as an external power bank in the top tube bag. The E-14 Solo comes with its own integrated battery, which is hidden in the frame.

What is the Rohloff E-14 Solo?

  • Standalone system: it has its own battery and controller, completely independent of e-bike motors and displays.
  • No app, no cloud, no account: no smartphone app, registration or cloud service is needed for it to work. You mount it and it works.
  • Backward compatible: it works with every Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 ever built, from 135 mm all the way up to the 197 mm fatbike dropout spacing.
  • Drivetrain: it works with both a chain and the maintenance-free Gates Carbon Drive belt drive; on this bike it is combined with the Gates CDX belt drive.

Operation and ergonomics

  • Shifting speed: Rohloff quotes just 180 milliseconds per gear change for its E-14 electronic shifting, which gives a very fast and direct feel.
  • Multishift function: if you suddenly need to shift many gears (for example at the bottom of a steep climb), holding the button makes the system keep shifting in sequences of three gears.
  • Shifting under load: as with every Rohloff hub, you should ease the pedalling load for a moment when shifting. Thanks to the fast E-14 Solo, this is only a small movement in the leg.
  • Handlebar: for the drop-bar Alpine we fit the TRP Hywire brake-lever shifters, which do away with fiddly shift-cable routing and give modern gravel and road ergonomics.

Battery, charging, weather resistance

  • Range: Rohloff states that one charge lasts for more than 1,000 km.
  • Charging: via a USB-C port.
  • Installation: the battery is hidden in the frame.
  • Weather resistance: water- and weather-resistant (splashing water and rain do no harm), but direct cleaning with a pressure washer is prohibited.

The system won the Eurobike Gold Award 2026.

The E-14 Solo battery

The battery is a slim carbon tube of about 20 mm in diameter and 230 mm in length (Rohloff data), with two short cables for the charger port and the shifting unit. On this bike it is hidden in the frame and charged through the USB-C port.

Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 hub gear

The Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 is a sealed 14-speed internal gear hub with a 526% gear range, so there is no derailleur to adjust. Shifting is done by the new Rohloff E-14 Solo electronic system, controlled from the brake-shift lever on the handlebar.

Optional: Supernova premium battery-powered lighting system

The base model is supplied without a lighting set (the photo shows the optional lights): add the Supernova Airstream 2 front and rear light set when you customise your bike. Supernova is a premium lighting brand, and the front light can be removed in one move, so it can also be used as a flashlight.

Efficient gravel riding position

On the bike we want a position in which we can sit as efficiently and comfortably as possible, and the hub-gear models achieve this too. With the feet pushed back, you can drive the bike very efficiently, while your back stays comfortable for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Booda Bike Alpine with Rohloff E-14 Solo a low-maintenance bike?

Yes, it is built to need little maintenance. The Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 is a sealed hub gear, so there is no derailleur to adjust, and the Gates CDX belt needs no lubrication and does not rust. Hydraulic disc brakes and tubeless tyres with sealant reduce the routine work further. Rohloff recommends one oil change for the hub per year or every 5,000 km, and the belt should be checked for wear. Because the bike is built from standard components, any general bike shop can service the parts that are not Rohloff-specific.

What makes the Alpine durable enough for long tours?

The Alpine combines a steel frame and carbon fork with a sealed Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 hub gear, a Gates CDX belt that does not rust and lasts significantly longer than a traditional chain, and Schwalbe G-One Allround 622×40 tubeless tyres whose sealant closes small holes. Rohloff reports hubs from its earliest production series that have not been returned for damage or wear, and customer hubs with more than 500,000 km.

Which gear hub does the Alpine Rohloff Solo use, and why?

It uses the Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14: 14 gears and a 526% gear range in a sealed hub, with no derailleur to adjust. A hub gear suits a belt drive because a belt cannot be moved across sprockets like a chain, and it can be shifted even while stationary.

What is the Rohloff E-14 Solo, and does it need an app?

The Rohloff E-14 Solo is a standalone electronic shifting system for the SPEEDHUB 500/14 with its own battery and controller. It needs no app, no cloud service and no account. It is controlled by the shift buttons of the TRP Hywire brake levers, charged through a USB-C port, and according to Rohloff one charge lasts for more than 1,000 km.

When can I get the Alpine with the Rohloff E-14 Solo?

It is available to pre-order now. Delivery is planned from spring 2027, and we expect to begin shipping the first bikes around March 2027. Rohloff lists the E-14 Solo as available from Q1 2027.

How is the E-14 Solo version different from the earlier e-14 electric shifter Alpine?

In the earlier early-bird edition, the Alpine – Rohloff e-14 electric shifter, the battery had to be carried as an external power bank in the top tube bag. The E-14 Solo version has its own integrated battery, hidden in the frame.

Which Alpine frame size should I choose?

Size S is intended for riders of 155–170 cm, size M for 170–185 cm and size L for 185–200 cm. See the frame geometry table above for stack, reach and the other measurements.

How can I pay?

You can pay via bank transfer or credit card.

Is there any financing option available?

Not yet, but we’re working on it! :)

What if I don’t like my bike?

If the bike isn’t what you expected, you can return it within 14 days. Please make sure to pack it carefully so it arrives back to us in good condition. You can find the return conditions in our Terms and Conditions.

How can I service my bike?

All our bikes are made using standard components, so they’re easy to maintain. This is a core principle across all our models. Thanks to this, any general bike shop should be able to service your Booda Bike.

What tools do I need to assemble my Booda Bike?

This depends on the model and configuration, but most maintenance and assembly can be done with these tools: 4 mm Allen key, 5 mm Allen key, 6 mm Allen key, and a T25 Torx key.

Do the prices include VAT?

Once you select your country, all prices will be shown with the applicable local VAT included.

Can I try the bike in person before buying?

Currently, we operate as an online-only store, but we’re working on making test rides possible in the near future.

What happens after I place my order?

Once we receive your order, we begin processing it. If all parts are in stock, our team will prepare the components in the order in which the orders were received. If something is out of stock, we’ll check the expected arrival or order it immediately. After that, your bike enters the assembly phase, which usually takes 1–2 business days. Once the bike is built, it undergoes a thorough quality check to ensure everything is assembled correctly. Then it gets packed and shipped straight to your door.

How can I order spare parts?

If you bought your bike through our website, just go to the “My Bicycle” tab in your profile — there you’ll find all components specific to your bike, so you’ll know exactly what you need and can easily reorder.

What if I want a customization that’s not available on the website?

The customization options on our website are based on what we’ve learned actually make sense over the years. There are very few modifications we are both able and willing to make that aren’t listed online — but feel free to email us at info@boodabike.com and we’ll be happy to discuss it.
