Why choose the CDX:Black Pinion sprocket?

Direct mount. Made for Pinion gearboxes: it mounts directly on the gearbox.
CDX belt line. Part of the CDX range that Gates rates at up to 4× the life of a chain.
32 or 39 teeth. Both with 11 mm pitch.

Black, silver or SL: which Pinion sprocket?
Gates makes the CDX Pinion sprocket in stainless steel (silver), the Pinion SL in lightweight aluminium, and this CDX:Black version in black-finished chrome-moly steel. “Black” in the name refers to the colour and finish of the sprocket; the belt can be any CDX, CDC or CDN belt.

Pairs with CDX belts
The sprocket belongs to the CDX line, so use it with a CDX belt for the complete CDX setup. CDX, CDC and CDN belts all have an 11 mm pitch and the same CenterTrack profile.

Frequently asked questions
Which Pinion gearbox does it fit?
It is made for Pinion gearboxes. Tell us your Pinion model and we will confirm the fit and the right tooth count.
What is the difference between the Pinion and the Pinion SL sprocket?
The standard CDX Pinion sprocket is made of aerospace stainless steel and is the more durable choice. The Pinion SL is made of 6061 aluminium and is lighter. This CDX:Black version is black-finished steel.
What do CDX, CDC and CDN mean?
They are Gates’ three belt-drive lines for bicycles: CDX (top of the range), CDC (mid-range) and CDN (entry level). Gates rates CDX for hub motors and mid-drive e-bike motors up to 120 Nm, CDC for mid-drive motors up to 75 Nm, and CDN for hub-motor e-bikes and casual riding.
When should I replace a sprocket?
Check your sprockets from time to time. Worn teeth cause noise, tooth jump and faster wear on the belt, so replace the sprocket when the teeth are worn. A sprocket in good condition has even, undamaged teeth.
Sizes and Gates part numbers
Find your sprocket by its tooth count. The Gates article number and type designation are marked on the sprocket, so you can match a replacement exactly.
