Why the TRP Hywave set?
Shift button in the brake lever. TRP designed the Hywave to shift systems such as Bosch or 3X3: ride the hoods, brake and change gear in one place.
Wireless with 3X3. 3X3 states that the Hywave levers communicate with the 3X3 shift actuator via Bluetooth, so there is no shift cable to route.
SW-C8020E bar-end unit included. TRP specifies the SW-C8020E bar-end unit for the connection to the 3X3 system, and it is part of this set.
Everything for both wheels. Two levers and two calipers: the right lever works the rear brake, the left lever the front brake. The left side is a TRP Hylex brake lever with the front caliper, as in the TRP Hywire set.
Flat-mount calipers. The modern road and gravel standard, compact and clean on the frame.
Front adapter included. The set contains the front flat-mount adapter. A rear adapter is not part of the set.
Electronic gear-hub shifting on drop bars
Electronic gear hub shifting used to mean a flat bar. The Hywave puts the shift button on a drop-bar brake lever. TRP lists it for endurance road, gravel and XC use. With the 3X3 NINE gear hub it works together with the TRP SW-C8020E bar-end unit, which is included in this set; with Bosch electronic shifting, with the TRP SW-C8010E bar-end unit, which is not included. On BoodaBike bikes we use the Hywave with the 3X3 NINE gear hub and our own electronic shifting setup, powered by a compact power bank, without an e-bike motor or Bosch drive.
Who is it for?
- Gear-hub fans who prefer drop bars. With the SW-C8020E bar-end unit, the Hywave shifts the 3X3 NINE hub from the brake lever.
- Riders who do not want to take a hand off the bar to shift. The shift button sits within reach of your fingers on the hoods.
- Builders of a new bike. Everything for the brakes and the shift button in one order.
- Riders replacing both brakes. A matched left and right pair.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Hywave shift the 3X3 hub on its own?
With the SW-C8020E bar-end unit, yes. TRP specifies the SW-C8020E bar-end unit for the connection to the 3X3 system, and it is included in this set.
Is a rear adapter included?
No. The set contains the front adapter only. Whether your frame needs a rear adapter depends on the rear rotor size you use. Ask us if you are unsure.
Does it work on a bike without a motor?
Yes. 3X3's own E-Shift solution is built around a Bosch e-bike drive, but on BoodaBike bikes we use the Hywave with the 3X3 NINE gear hub and our own electronic shifting setup, powered by a compact power bank. Ask us which setup fits your bike.
Which rotor do I need?
TRP designed the Hywave for 1.8 mm thick rotors. Rotors are not included.
