The Gebla Rohbox – Black is a replacement shift box for the Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 that lets you shift the hub with drop-bar brake-shift levers or flat-bar triggers instead of the twist shifter: one lever shifts up, the other shifts down.

Why the Gebla Rohbox?

  • Keep the Rohloff. The sealed, low-maintenance 14-speed hub stays – only the way you shift changes.
  • Shift from the hoods. On a drop bar you keep the hand positions of a road or gravel bike and shift with your brifters.
  • Two cables, two directions. One shifter pulls the cable for higher gears, the other for lower gears; you choose which side does what.
  • Triggers on a flat bar. SRAM GX triggers, or even brake levers, can operate the Rohbox too.
  • Proven on long distances. Riders report more than 40,000 km with the Rohbox.
Principle of the Gebla Rohbox: one lever pulls towards gear 14, the other towards gear 1 of the Rohloff Speedhub

How it works

The indexing of the shifters is removed – the Rohbox and the hub take care of the gear positions. In the diagram, one lever (plus) moves the hub towards gear 14, the other (minus) towards gear 1. The Rohbox replaces the original Rohloff shift box on hubs with External Gear Mech.

Good to know

Use SP-type (linear-wire) shift housing such as Shimano SP41 with 6 mm end caps and 7x7 inner cables; coated inner cables and routing through the handlebar are not recommended. Lubricate the inner cables with silicone oil, and clean and regrease the Rohbox at every Speedhub oil change – about once a year or every 5,000 km. In the box: a strip of five plastic plugs to hold the transport wheel when the rear wheel is removed, and a syringe of marine grease.

Who is it for?

  • Gravel, touring and bikepacking riders. With a Rohloff hub and drop bars.
  • Rohloff riders who prefer triggers. On a flat bar.
  • Frame builders and workshops. Building drop-bar Rohloff bikes.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Gebla Rohbox fit my Rohloff hub?

It fits every Speedhub with External Gear Mech – all disc-brake Speedhubs have it. Hubs with Internal Gear Mech have to be converted to External Gear Mech first.

Can I use Shimano GRX brifters?

Yes. Hydraulic Shimano GRX and 105 brifters work after conversion with the Gebla ShimKit, which replaces the original shift mechanism inside the lever.

Does it work with a Pinion gearbox?

No. The Rohbox is designed specifically for the Rohloff Speedhub.

Can you fit it for me?

Yes. Our workshop has completed the official Rohloff service training – contact us and we will advise you on the right setup.

BoodaBike grew out of Massive Bikes, a Budapest workshop that has been building belt-drive and hub-gear bikes since 2013. We are trained Rohloff service specialists and an official European distributor of Rohloff hubs and parts, and we build drop-bar Rohloff bikes with the Rohbox ourselves.

About Gebla

GEBLA is the workshop of Georg Blaschke in Geldersheim, Germany; the name combines parts of his first and last name. He has been making bicycle parts since the late 1980s and building road, mountain, touring and city bike frames since 1992. The Rohbox and the ShimKit grew out of this hands-on frame-building experience.
