The microSHIFT Shift Inner Cable with cylinder head is the spare cable microSHIFT drop bar gear hub shifters need – the SB-N110 (Alfine 11) and SB-N080 (Alfine 8). Their levers take a small cylinder head that a standard Shimano shift cable does not have.

Why the right cable matters

Internal gear hubs shift precisely only when the cable runs smoothly and holds its tension. An old, stretched or corroded cable causes skipped or hesitant shifts. Because microSHIFT drop bar gear hub shifters use a smaller cylinder-shaped cable head, this cable gives you the correct fit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a normal Shimano shift cable in a microSHIFT drop bar shifter?

No – the head of a standard Shimano shift cable is too large for these microSHIFT levers.

How do I change the cable?

microSHIFT publishes a drop bar shifter cable installation guide: shift to the end position, fold the hood forward, push the old cable out through the lever and feed the new one in until the head is fully seated.

Can you change it for me?

Yes, our Budapest workshop can re-cable the shifter and set up the gear hub shifting.
