Rohloff A12 axle bolt Boost – 1x bolt black
The Rohloff A12 axle bolt Boost (8568) is the single black M7 securing bolt for the sprocket side of a thru-axle Speedhub 500/14 in a 148 mm Boost frame – the longer bolt that Boost and SRAM UDH set-ups need.
Why the original Boost bolt?
The right length. Rohloff lists the black M7x36x1 bolt for the sprocket side of 148 mm Boost frames, and for SRAM UDH frames with 142, 177 or 197 mm spacing. 
Single bolt, no full set. If only the black sprocket-side bolt is lost or damaged, you replace just that one. 
Known torque. A12 securing bolts are tightened with a 5 mm Allen key in quarter-turn steps to 15–20 Nm, as Rohloff specifies. 
Easy to tell apart. The black finish marks the 36 mm Boost length, so it is not mixed up with the silver 30 mm bolts.
Who is it for?
- Riders with a Boost thru-axle Speedhub. A spare for the sprocket-side bolt of a 148 mm A12 hub.
- SRAM UDH frame owners. Rohloff pairs the UDH bolt 8591 with this black bolt on 142 mm frames.
- Workshops. A loose bolt in the drawer saves ordering a complete set.

Frequently asked questions
Do I also need Nord-Lock washers?
Yes, A12 axle bolts are fitted with Nord-Lock washers. Rohloff recommends replacing the washers after every fourth use; they are sold as a set of four (8574) or with bolts in the 8569 sets.
Which bolt does a 148 mm Boost frame with SRAM UDH need?
For SRAM UDH on 148 mm Boost, Rohloff lists a longer M7x42 yellowish-silver bolt instead. This black 36 mm bolt is for Boost without UDH and for UDH at 142, 177 or 197 mm.
Is this the left-side bolt?
No. The non-drive side uses the silver M7x30 bolt; the black bolt goes on the sprocket side.
