Rohloff A12 SPEEDHUB 500/14 – Measurement kit
The Rohloff A12 SPEEDHUB 500/14 Measurement kit (8600) is the dropout test kit workshops use to work out exactly which A12 mounting hardware a 12 mm thru-axle frame needs before an A12 Speedhub is ordered.

Why measure first?
No two dropouts alike. Rohloff notes that modern dropouts have very few standard dimensions, so each frame must be checked individually.
Right sleeves and spacers. The A12 system reduces the 12 mm dropout hole to 7 mm with special reduction sleeves; the kit shows which sleeves and spacers each side needs.
Axle plate and bone check. Demo axle plates and adapters show whether the axle plate lies flush on the dropout and which Speedbone, Monkeybone, PM Bone or Fat Bone fits.
Protects frame and hub. Rohloff warns that measuring errors can damage the A12 axle or the dropouts – the kit avoids guesswork.
Who is it for?
- Bike shops and Rohloff dealers. Fit A12 Speedhubs into customer frames with confidence.
- Frame builders and bike brands. Confirm frame compatibility before production.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need this as a private rider?
It is a workshop tool. Rohloff requires the frame test and A12 fitting to be done by a qualified bicycle workshop. Contact us and we will advise on your frame.
What happens if the axle plate does not sit flush?
According to Rohloff, if the axle plate cannot lie flush on the dropout or no adapter fits, there is no Speedhub model compatible with that frame.
Can a CC or TS Speedhub be converted to A12?
Rohloff does not offer this: converting needs so many internal parts that it costs almost as much as a new hub.
