Rohloff Flange Support Rings x 2 small
Rohloff Flange Support Rings (8523, 2 identical small rings) reinforce both spoke flanges of the SPEEDHUB 500/14 – the correct set for hubs whose “Made in Germany” marking is not underlined.

Why add flange support rings?
Keeps spokes in place. If a flange is damaged, the ring stops the spoke head from tearing out of the flange.
Two identical rings. The set for hubs with the non-underlined “Made in Germany” marking.
Made for hard use. Recommended by Rohloff for tandem, touring, e-bike and cargo use and for riders over 100 kg.
Upgrade for older hubs. Every new SPEEDHUB has had flange rings since October 2017; older hubs can be upgraded when relaced.
Who is it for?
- Owners of older SPEEDHUBs. Upgrade the hub to the current Rohloff standard at the next rebuild.
- Wheel builders. Fit the rings before lacing a SPEEDHUB wheel.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know this is the right set?
If the “Made in Germany” lettering on your hub is not underlined, you need 8523. If it is underlined, you need 8524.
Why does the spoke type matter?
Rohloff explains that spokes with too short a bend, burrs on the heads, low spoke tension or offset relacing can damage the flange – the rings and correct DD spokes work together.
