Rohloff Long mounting bolt and Distancing washers
The Rohloff Long Mounting Bolt with Distancing Washers (8257 = 8255 + 8256) fixes the Rohloff chain tensioner to the frame when the standard bolt is too short – for example with thin dropouts or splined sprockets.
Why the long mounting bolt?
3.5 mm longer. Rohloff specifies the longer bolt (+3.5 mm) for dropouts thinner than 7 mm when using the 13-tooth threaded sprocket or any splined sprocket (58 mm chain line). 
Set the chain line. The distancing washers move the tensioner sideways so its pulleys line up with the chain. 
Secure fixing. The tensioner mounts on the derailleur hanger; the bolt is tightened to 8 Nm. 
Genuine replacement. Also the right part if the original bolt or washers are lost.
When you need it
If your SPEEDHUB runs a splined sprocket or the 13-tooth threaded sprocket and the frame dropout is under 7 mm thick, Rohloff specifies this longer bolt instead of the standard one.
Who is it for?
- Riders with a Rohloff chain tensioner. On full-suspension bikes or frames without adjustable dropouts.
- Riders changing sprocket type. Switching to splined sprockets can change the bolt length needed.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Rohloff chain tensioner work with any chain?
Rohloff states that its chain tensioners are only suitable for 1/2" x 3/32" and 1/2" x 11/128" chains.
Which tensioner do I need for a wide hub?
For 190/197 mm hubs Rohloff specifies the chain tensioner -10 (8250-10). Ask us if you are unsure.
