Rohloff Special Chain Lubricant 50 ml
Oil of Rohloff Special Chain Lubricant 50 ml (4200) is the pocket-size bottle of Rohloff's own synthetic, biodegradable chain oil – a quiet, smooth-running chain on every ride, at home or on tour.
Why Oil of Rohloff?
Holds up under pressure. Rohloff describes it as incredibly pressure resistant, built for the forces inside a bicycle drivetrain.
Creeps into the rollers. An extremely high creep (slip) characteristic carries the oil into the pins and rollers, where wear actually happens.
Water-repellent. More water-repellent than conventional chain oils, so it lasts through wet touring days.
Biodegradable. Certified quickly biodegradable (CEC-L-33-T-82) and made from over 90% renewable resources.
Tested quality. Awarded the VSF seal for best lubricating properties – only 2 of more than 19 tested chain-oil brands received it.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use Oil of Rohloff to change the oil in my Speedhub?
No. Oil of Rohloff is a chain lubricant. The Speedhub uses Rohloff SPEEDHUB oil, supplied in the Rohloff oil change kit; Rohloff warns that other lubricants can damage the nylon parts inside the hub.
Can the bottle be refilled?
Yes. The bottle is reusable, and Rohloff sells the same oil in 1 litre and 5 litre cans with matching pumps for refilling.
Does it work on any chain?
It is a general chain lubricant for bicycle chains – derailleur, singlespeed and gear-hub chains alike.
