Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 TS DB OEM2 – 135 mm - 32H - Silver
The Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 TS DB OEM2 (135 mm O.L.D.) is the 14-speed gear hub with a bolt-on threaded axle, disc brake hub cap and OEM2 axle plate – for frames with an IS2000 disc brake mount. 14 evenly spaced gears, a 526% range and a sealed oil bath give you a drivetrain that works with a chain or a Gates belt and needs little more than a yearly oil change.

Why the Speedhub 500/14 TS DB OEM2?
526% in one hub. From the lowest to the highest of its 14 gears the TS DB OEM2 covers a 526% range, in steps of about 13.6% (Rohloff figure) – no overlapping or duplicate ratios as on a double chainring.
Closed and oil-lubricated. Three planetary gear sets, enclosed and lubricated by oil. The regular job is an oil change every 5000 km or once a year with the Rohloff oil change kit.
Ready for belt drive. One sprocket and a straight line make the Speedhub the classic partner for a Gates Carbon Drive belt. Rohloff specifies its lock-ring splined carrier for Carbon Drive sprockets.
Torque support on the brake mount. The OEM2 axle plate anchors the hub torque on the rearmost hole of an IS2000 brake mount. With a disc brake it is combined with a SPEEDBONE or Monkey Bone.
Disc brake hub cap. The DB hub cap carries a special Rohloff 4-hole rotor, 160 to 220 mm, for 1.8, 2.0 or 2.3 mm brake systems. The rotor mounting screws come with the hub.
One shifter, no front mech. All 14 gears sit on one twist shifter with two cables – no front derailleur, no chain jumping between rings. Shift while rolling or standing; ease off the pedals as you do.

Solid threaded axle
The TS hub has a solid M10x1 threaded axle and is fixed with axle nuts (15 mm wrench). This version combines the bolt-on axle with the OEM2 axle plate: anchors the output torque of the hub to the rearmost mounting hole of an IS2000 disc brake mount.
Rohloff supplies TS and OEM versions without a chain tensioner; add one (8250) if your frame has no chain tensioning of its own.

Belt drive, the BoodaBike way
At BoodaBike (Massive Bikes) we started in 2013 by fitting Gates belt drives and gear hubs, and our own BoodaBike Pulse is a belt-drive touring bike with a Rohloff Speedhub.
For a Carbon Drive sprocket Rohloff specifies the lock-ring splined carrier (8540L for the standard or 8540SL for the slim chainline); the 16-tooth sprocket in the kit is for chain use. Tell us your frame and we help you pick the carrier and sprocket.
Who is it for?
- Touring cyclists. Loaded climbs in the low gears and steady cruising on top – with a hub that shrugs off bad weather.
- Riders who prefer a bolt-on axle. The solid threaded TS axle is clamped with axle nuts – a firm, simple wheel mount.
- Belt-drive converts. Swap chain and cassette for a clean, quiet Gates belt – the Speedhub is the hub most belt frames are designed around.
- Year-round commuters. Salt, slush and grit do not reach the gears; the yearly oil change is the main job.

Frequently asked questions
What else do I need for the OEM2 axle plate?
With a disc brake the OEM2 plate is used together with a SPEEDBONE (8550) or a Monkey Bone (8553 for 160 mm, 8554 for 180 mm rotors). Rohloff also notes that the frame manufacturer must approve torque support on the brake mount; otherwise it is at the rider's own risk. These parts are sold separately in our shop.
Is it belt-drive compatible?
Yes – the TS DB OEM2 takes a Gates Carbon Drive sprocket on the Rohloff lock-ring splined carrier (8540L / 8540SL). Ask us for the right sprocket size for your gearing.
32 or 36 spoke holes?
Both are available in silver, red and black. Whichever you choose, Rohloff requires spokes with a 2.9 mm long, burr-free head – other head lengths can damage the hub flange. Ask us about the right spokes.
What does the hub need over the years?
Mainly oil: change it every 5000 km or once a year with Rohloff cleaning and all-season oil. Wear parts – seals, sprocket and carrier, shifter grip rubber, rotors – are replaced as needed; the hub itself carries a two-year Rohloff warranty from purchase.
Can it go on a tandem or cargo bike?
Rohloff approves the Speedhub 500/14 for tandem and cargo use in dedicated versions (article suffix T or C), with a maximum input torque of 130 Nm at the hub sprocket. This listing is the standard version – ask us for the T or C version.
