Rohloff Splined Carrier Slim Lock, ONLY for splined sprockets with 15 teeth or more/for Carbon Drive
The Rohloff Splined Carrier Slim Lock (8540SL) holds a Gates Carbon Drive belt sprocket or a Rohloff splined sprocket (15 teeth or more) on the SPEEDHUB 500/14 and locks it in place with a lock-ring.
Why the lock-ring carrier?
No micro-movement. The lock-ring fixes the sprocket laterally – Rohloff developed it to eliminate movement under Carbon Drive belt pre-tension.
Made for belt drive. Specially developed for Carbon Drive splined sprockets.
Slim version. Rohloff offers Standard Lock (8540L) and Slim Lock (8540SL) to position the sprocket for the right belt line.
Lock-ring included. Tighten to 30 Nm with the Rohloff Lock-Ring tool (8518) – no thread-locking compound.

- Belt drive conversions. Moving a Speedhub bike from chain to belt.

Frequently asked questions
Slim Lock or Standard Lock?
They place the sprocket at different chainline positions. Rohloff's rule: choose the carrier that keeps the sprocket in the same position (±1 mm) as before. Send us your current set-up and we will check it.
Can I reuse my old splined carrier?
No. Rohloff states that a dismantled splined carrier (8540 or 8540S), including its retaining ring, must not be used again.
Should I use it with a chain?
Rohloff recommends the regular tool-free carriers (8540, 8540S) for chains; the lock-ring version is for belt drive.
