The Schwalbe G-One R 622×40 (700x40C, Performance, RaceGuard, ADDIX Green) is the all-rounder for speed and control – a race gravel tire fast enough for racing, grippy enough for forest paths and trails, and at home on asphalt too.

Why the G-One R 40 mm?

  • Grip, even in the wet. Boomerang-shaped tread blocks and angled side knobs give plenty of grip.
  • Cornering traction. Paired outer blocks provide maximum traction in corners.
  • RaceGuard. A race carcass with a RaceGuard insert under the tread gives good puncture protection at high speed.
  • ADDIX Green. Good performance and durability with Fair Rubber and recycled carbon black.
  • Tubeless Ready. Run it tubeless with sealant, or with a standard or TPU inner tube.

When the surface changes all day

Mixed gravel rides, gravel events and adventure rides: forest paths, light trails, gravel roads and asphalt. 40 mm is the classic gravel size – a balance of speed, comfort and grip.

Tubeless Ready (TLR) tires can run tubeless with sealant, or with a standard or TPU inner tube. Mount the tire on a tubeless-ready rim with tubeless rim tape and a tubeless valve, add sealant (for example Schwalbe Doc Blue) and ride a few kilometres straight away so the sealant spreads and seals the tire. Top up the sealant every few months.

Terrain scale from smooth asphalt to rough, loose ground, with a wheel marking where the G-One R is most at home

Where it fits in the Schwalbe range

The G-One R sits between the fast G-One RS and the more versatile G-One Allround – choose it when you want speed but also real grip off-road.

From left to right the scale runs from smooth asphalt through touring roads and firm tracks, fast gravel and mixed gravel to rough, loose ground; the wheel marks where the G-One R is most at home.

Who is it for?

  • Gravel riders who want one tire from tarmac to trail. Fast on the road, grippy in the forest.
  • Riders in wet or changing conditions. The boomerang tread keeps its grip when it is wet.
  • Value-minded racers. A race-capable gravel tire with an excellent price-performance ratio.

Frequently asked questions

G-One R or G-One RS?

The RS is faster on hardpack and tarmac; the R grips better on loose, wet and technical ground. If your rides include forest paths and trails, choose the R.

Is 40 mm the right width?

40 mm fits most gravel bikes and gives a good balance of speed and comfort. For rougher terrain and more comfort, the G-One R is also available in 45 mm.

Can I use an inner tube?

Yes, Tubeless Ready tires can also be ridden with a standard or TPU inner tube.

What is the maximum pressure?

Schwalbe specifies a maximum of 4.5 bar (65 psi) for the 40 mm G-One R.

About Schwalbe

Schwalbe is the tire brand of Ralf Bohle GmbH, a family-owned German company from Reichshof, in the tire business since 1922. Since 1973 Schwalbe has developed and built its tires together with its long-term production partner Hung-A in Indonesia and Vietnam, and today Schwalbe tires are ridden in around 70 countries.

Almost all Schwalbe tires are made with fairly traded natural rubber (Fair Rubber), and Schwalbe runs its own tire recycling – the recycled carbon black in the ADDIX Green compound saves around 80% CO₂eq compared with conventional industrial carbon black.
