Shimano Maintenance Oil Set for Internal Gear Hubs – 1000 ml (Nexus / Alfine 8)
The Shimano Y0029801A maintenance oil set is the 1 litre service oil with dipping container for the oil-dip service of Nexus and Alfine 8 internal gear hubs. The internal unit is taken out and dipped in the oil – it cleans and re-lubricates the mechanism and keeps shifting smooth for years.

Why this set?
Shimano service oil. The oil Shimano specifies for the oil-dip service of its grease-lubricated hubs.
Nexus and Alfine 8. For Nexus 3/5/7/8 and Alfine 8 (SG-S7000-8 / SG-S7001-8).
Dipping container included. The internal unit fits in the container for the dip.
Workshop size. One litre lasts for many services.

How the oil-dip service works
The internal unit is removed from the hub shell, dipped in the oil, drained and refitted. This cleans out old lubricant and re-lubricates the gears and clutches.
Follow Shimano's dealer manual for the procedure. For heavy daily use we suggest a check every 1–2 years.
Who is it for?

About Shimano
Shimano was founded in 1921 in Sakai, Japan, as a one-man workshop making freewheels. Today it is the world's largest maker of bicycle components, and its standards – Center Lock rotors, Hollowtech cranks, Rapidfire shifters, mineral-oil hydraulic brakes – are what most bikes are built around.
At BoodaBike we use Shimano internal gear hubs and hydraulic brakes on our own belt-drive bikes, and we stock the service parts we use in our own workshop.
