What is in the set

FSA SL-K carbon crank arm set, 170 mm, direct mount1
Gates CDX direct mount front sprocket for the Alfine beltline – 46T, 50T or 55T, as selected1

Why this combination?

  • Made for Gates belt drives. The front sprocket is a Gates Carbon Drive CDX part. According to Gates, CDX belts are built for extreme performance and use the CenterTrack design for optimal belt alignment, and belt drives need no lubrication.
  • Crank and sprocket in one set. Both parts use the direct mount interface: no spider and no chainring bolts.
  • Three sprocket sizes. Choose 46, 50 or 55 teeth to set the front side of your gearing, and swap the sprocket later while keeping the cranks.

Who is it for?

  • Belt-drive builders. Who want carbon crank arms and a Gates CDX direct mount sprocket sourced together.
  • Shimano Alfine builds. Bikes with a Shimano Alfine internal gear hub and a Gates belt drive set up for the Alfine beltline.
  • Riders upgrading from aluminium. Who want carbon-fibre crank arms with a matte UD finish.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in the Gates CDX crank set with FSA SL-K carbon arms?

The FSA SL-K carbon crank arm set (170 mm) and one Gates CDX direct mount front sprocket in the tooth count you choose. The bottom bracket, belt, rear sprocket and pedals are not included.

Which belt and rear sprocket do I need?

A Gates CDX belt and a CDX rear sprocket that fits your hub. The belt length depends on your frame and on the tooth counts; Gates offers a Bicycle Drive Assistant for choosing the components. Not sure? Send us your frame and hub and we will tell you what fits.

Which front sprocket size should I choose?

The gearing is the ratio of the front sprocket to the rear sprocket on your hub. With the same rear sprocket and hub, a front sprocket with more teeth gives a taller gear and one with fewer teeth a lighter gear. This set is available with 46, 50 or 55 teeth.

Can I change the sprocket later?

Yes. The sprocket is direct mount, so you can swap it and keep the cranks. Choose a sprocket made for the same beltline.
