The Gates Carbon Drive CDX Black Rear Sprocket – Rohloff splined is the black rear sprocket of the CDX line for the Rohloff Speedhub: black-coated steel for belt-driven bikes with a Rohloff hub. It is available in 19, 20 and 22 teeth, 11 mm pitch.
Why choose this rear sprocket?
Black-coated steel. Steel with a black KTL coating for a stealthy drivetrain (Gates Europe data).
Rohloff splined. Made for the splined sprocket interface of the Rohloff Speedhub.
Several gear choices. Available in several tooth counts – see the table below.
CenterTrack, 11 mm pitch. Runs with CDX, CDC and CDN belts.

Which hub does it fit?
This sprocket is made for the splined sprocket interface of the Rohloff Speedhub. Our Booda Bike Pulse is built with a Rohloff hub and a belt drive – ask us about the matching parts for your frame.

CDX:Black: what that means
This sprocket belongs to the Gates CDX:Black line: the black version of the CDX line, rated like CDX at up to 4× the life of a chain and for mid-drive e-bike motors up to 120 Nm. Use it with a CDX belt for the complete CDX setup. The belt can be any CDX, CDC or CDN belt, so belt and sprocket colours do not need to match.

Frequently asked questions
Which tooth count should I choose?
It depends on your gearing and the front sprocket, and the belt length follows from both. Gates offers a free Gearing and Center Distance Calculator in its Gates Sanity Check. Send us your frame, crank and hub and we will help you choose.
Rohloff: which beltline do I need?
The Rohloff has its own beltline, so the front sprocket must match it. We offer direct-mount crank sets and Gates front sprockets for the Rohloff beltline; tell us your frame and crank and we will check the match.
What do CDX, CDC and CDN mean?
They are Gates’ three belt-drive lines for bicycles: CDX (top of the range), CDC (mid-range) and CDN (entry level). Gates rates CDX for hub motors and mid-drive e-bike motors up to 120 Nm, CDC for mid-drive motors up to 75 Nm, and CDN for hub-motor e-bikes and casual riding.
When should I replace a sprocket?
Check your sprockets from time to time. Worn teeth cause noise, tooth jump and faster wear on the belt, so replace the sprocket when the teeth are worn. A sprocket in good condition has even, undamaged teeth.
Sizes and Gates part numbers
Find your sprocket by its tooth count. The Gates article number and type designation are marked on the sprocket, so you can match a replacement exactly.
