Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 CC DB – 135 mm - 32H - Silver
The Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 CC DB (135 mm O.L.D.) is the 14-speed gear hub with a quick-release axle, disc brake hub cap and Standard axle plate – for touring and trekking bikes with classic dropouts. 14 evenly spaced gears, a 526% range and a sealed oil bath give you a drivetrain that works with a chain or a Gates belt and needs little more than a yearly oil change.

Why the Speedhub 500/14 CC DB?
14 gears, 526% range. The top gear of the CC DB is 5.26 times the lowest – enough for loaded climbs and fast flats. Rohloff gives about 13.6% between neighbouring gears, so every shift feels the same.
Gears in oil, out of the dirt. Rain, mud and dust stay outside: the gearbox of the CC DB runs in an oil bath behind seals. Service is an oil change every 5000 km or once a year.
Ready for belt drive. One sprocket and a straight line make the Speedhub the classic partner for a Gates Carbon Drive belt. Rohloff specifies its lock-ring splined carrier for Carbon Drive sprockets.
Standard axle plate. The most universal Rohloff configuration, supplied with its mounting hardware and the Rohloff chain tensioner.
DB hub cap for disc brakes. Disc brakes mount on a special Rohloff 4-hole rotor (Ø160–220 mm, for 1.8, 2.0 and 2.3 mm brake systems). Rotor screws are in the box; the rotor itself is ordered to suit your brake.
Shift standing still. The twist shifter works through two cables, and you can change gear while rolling or stopped – handy at traffic lights or on a steep restart. Ease off the pedal pressure as you shift.

Quick-release axle for vertical dropouts
The CC hub has a hollow axle for a standard quick-release skewer. Wheel removal stays simple: the external gear mech comes off by loosening one screw, then the wheel comes out like any other.
This standard kit already contains the Rohloff chain tensioner for frames without their own chain tensioning.

Speedhub and Gates – our daily work
Massive Bikes started in Budapest in 2013 with Gates belt and gear hub conversions – today our BoodaBike Pulse touring bike rolls on a belt and a Rohloff Speedhub.
For a Carbon Drive sprocket Rohloff specifies the lock-ring splined carrier (8540L for the standard or 8540SL for the slim chainline); the 16-tooth sprocket in the kit is for chain use. Tell us your frame and we help you pick the carrier and sprocket.
Who is it for?
- Touring cyclists. Loaded climbs in the low gears and steady cruising on top – with a hub that shrugs off bad weather.
- Riders with quick-release frames. The CC axle takes a standard quick-release skewer, so the wheel comes out without special tools.
- Belt-drive converts. Swap chain and cassette for a clean, quiet Gates belt – the Speedhub is the hub most belt frames are designed around.
- Riders who value comfort. Shifting at a standstill and one simple twist shifter make every ride relaxed – useful in town and on long climbs.

Frequently asked questions
Is the standard version the right one for my frame?
The Standard axle plate suits frames with vertical dropouts and a quick-release rear wheel. If your frame has an IS2000 or Postmount brake mount or special Rohloff dropouts, another plate may suit it better. Send us a photo of the rear, non-drive-side dropout – Rohloff uses the same check.
Can I use it with a Gates belt drive?
Yes, in a belt-ready frame. Rohloff specifies the lock-ring splined carrier (8540L standard or 8540SL slim chainline) for Carbon Drive sprockets. We build belt-drive Rohloff bikes ourselves and supply the matching parts.
32 or 36 spoke holes?
Both are available in silver, red and black. Whichever you choose, Rohloff requires spokes with a 2.9 mm long, burr-free head – other head lengths can damage the hub flange. Ask us about the right spokes.
How much maintenance does it need?
An oil change every 5000 km or once a year. Rohloff notes the hub keeps working even if some oil is lost, but delaying the oil change can damage the gears. The warranty is two years from purchase; wear parts such as seals, sprockets, shifter grip rubber and rotors are excluded.
Can it go on a tandem or cargo bike?
Rohloff approves the Speedhub 500/14 for tandem and cargo use in dedicated versions (article suffix T or C), with a maximum input torque of 130 Nm at the hub sprocket. This listing is the standard version – ask us for the T or C version.
